Affiliated Shelters
The Koret Shelter Medicine Program relies on partnerships with many shelters to provide experience for our students and residents, to let us know what urgent problems are currently facing shelters, and most importantly, as a place to test out our "ivory tower" theories on what might work best in this challenging and diverse environment. In addition to numerous formal and informal collaborations, we currently provide contract veterinary services for The Marin Humane Society and Yolo County Animal Services.
Some of the many other shelters that currently help us by hosting student externs, residents, and/or participating in studies to benefit shelter animal health include, Peninsula Humane Society, Sacramento City Animal Care Services, Sacramento SPCA, San Diego Humane Society and SPCA, San Francisco SPCA, Tony LaRussa's Animal Rescue Foundation, and the Dane County Humane Society.
