Dr. Ann Therese

Dr. Ann Therese “Tess” Kommedal was born and raised in Norway. In 2003 she graduated from the Szent Istvan University, Faculty of Veterinary medicine in Budapest, Hungary.  Following graduation she spent 6 months in Israel with her husband, before returning to work in a small animal practice in Norway for a year. Her interest for shelter medicine came as a natural continuation of her interest in animal behavior, animal welfare and in fostering countless kittens in Norway. Dr. Kommedal was accepted to a rotational internship in small animal surgery and medicine in 2005, where her interest in shelter medicine was further strengthened. At the UF she had the opportunity to work with Dr. Julie Levy and Operation Catnip, a program spaying and neutering stray cats, and with Dr. Natalie Isaza who is in charge of the shelter medicine program at UF.

Dr. Kommedal is interested in infectious disease and behavior, and has a soft spot for rottweilers. She will stay in the program for three years including one year to complete her Masters of Preventive Veterinary Medicine (MPVM).
