I adopted Vadalia, a little female on 1/18/1992 at the age of 10 weeks and she died on October 20, 2004. I know that she was only in the shelter for about a week because I was actively looking for a kitten at the time and was stopping in often to ask if there were any available so assuming she was in the shelter for about a week, that is 7 days of shelter care compared to 4290 days living with me. I adopted Scallion a very sweet little male tabby at the age of 8 weeks on June 20, 1992 and he just died this past Saturday June 13,2009. At MOST he would have had 56 days of shelter care (assuming he was brought in at birth with a nursing mom which he probably wasn’t) compared with almost 17 years –a whopping 6199 days to be exact of being in my life. I loved these kitties so much, and I got them before I ever even thought of going to vet school. I was a baby myself (21) at the time and their both passing on now is kind of the end of an era for me.
