I adopted Lily from Alachua County Animal Services on December 9, 1994 when she was 18 months old and newly retired.� I'd been working as the contract veterinarian with this shelter since 1988, and Lily was surrendered there December 6, 3 days prior to my adopting her. I euthanized her last week, on July 18, 2007, due to complications associated with mesothelioma that had developed in January of this year. I have oodles of words and stories to share about the wonder of this girl and our evolving/evolved bond. A match truly made in heaven. And at the shelter where I found my calling....
