Cats Protection (Birmingham, UK)
Scampi was taken to Birmingham Cats Protection centre aged about 6 months by someone claiming they had found him. It was apparent that his eyes needed veterinary treatment and when examined both cataracts need to be removed. Birmingham CP held fund raising events to raise money to pay for Scampi's surgery as it was felt that he was such a special cat that had the prospect of a long happy life following surgery. Surgery was successful although it meant that Scampi needed to stay at the rescue centre for 6 months to enable a close eye (!) to be kept on the progress of his eyes post surgery. I adopted Scampi when he was about 12 months old and his vision seems fine - he is still able to successfully hunt and he is a wonderful cat.
